Sparta resident and author John Klumpp has made a heartfelt contribution to his community by donating the proceeds from his book Ramblings to the Sparta Community Food Pantry.
The donation totaled $1,507, a sum Klumpp proudly presented after what he described as a longer-than-expected journey to complete the fundraising effort. His book, a collection of eclectic and observational chapters, reflects Klumppβs musings on life and current events, some of which are narrated through his humorous alter ego, βDan dβQuille.β
The gesture underscores Klumppβs commitment to giving back and supporting local initiatives aimed at combating food insecurity.
The Sparta Community Food Pantry, a volunteer-run nonprofit, relies entirely on donations and community support to provide nourishment and hope to families in need. Klumppβs donation not only contributes to this mission but also highlights the power of creative work to drive meaningful change. |
Sparta Township school officials will hold a virtual community forum on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, to discuss a proposed $82.3 million bond referendum set for a public vote on September 16.
The Zoom session, beginning at 6:30 p.m., will feature district leaders, board members, teachers, and financial and architectural advisors who helped shape the proposal. Attendees can ask questions via the Zoom Q&A chat, and the event can be accessed at sparta.org/vote.
The referendum aims to fund major upgrades across Spartaβs schools, including HVAC, electrical, roofing, and window improvements to enhance efficiency and air quality. It also proposes modernizing high school science labs and constructing a substantial addition at Alpine Elementary Schoolβadding 20 classrooms, a full-size gym, and a specialized classroom for unique programs.
If approved, the referendum would unlock $16.9 million in state aid and increase the average homeownerβs monthly tax bill by $28.
Superintendent Matthew Beck emphasized the importance of informing residents about the referendumβs impact and encouraged participation.
An in-person forum and building tour at Alpine School is also scheduled for September 9 to further engage the community. |
